Everybody travels. Whether it’s for business, pleasure, vacation, at some point in our lives we all depart from the comfort to visit another location. It might be a quick trip to the next town over for a business conference or a massive adventure halfway around the world for months at a time So how to stay fit or exercise on holiday?
We are creatures of habit – while working a normal day job, we can stick to a routine pretty easily (wake up at the same time, eat all meals at the same time, work out at the same time, go to sleep at the same time). However, when we start traveling, absolutely nothing is familiar and the slightest speed bump can be enough to screw things up. So these are some of the strategies we’ve come up with to tackle this problem and how to cope up and be active in your travel these are things you can do;
Workout right in your room: It can be surprisingly simple to squeeze in a workout without much space, time and just your body weight like crunches, side bending exercises, pushups, air cycling etc. By fitting in 5-15 minutes of activity right in your hotel room, you can keep your routine intact both mentally and physically.
Pedometer Step count:-Walking is the simplest form of exercise, and using a pedometer is a good way to get you to do it.
Doing a step count can increase your mobility and it will help you to be more active so you walk at the airports, in the hotel lobby, at outdoors and increase your step count. 10,000 steps a day is equivalent to about five miles, depending on the length of your stride so put your walking shoes this holiday and a pedometer to count steps this trip and stay healthy.
Take 5 for some simple calisthenics: Warm up for 2-3 minutes with some light movement – march or jog on the spot, knees up, dance! Then choose 3-6 exercises using your body weight. There are lots of options including squats, lunges, push-ups (on the floor or against a counter), triceps dips on a chair, crunches, back extensions, etc. Pick either a number or time for exercises. It could be 10-20 repetitions or 15-40 seconds. Don’t worry about creating the ideal combination as the objective is just to move.
Find a local gym If there isn’t a fitness facility in your hotel, there may be local gym close by. You just need to so some low impact cardio to burn the extra fat intake due to eating out by doing Treadmill, cycling and cross trainer so If you’re travelling on business, it’s nice to have some time away from work to clear your head. If you’re on holiday, it can also be a great way to chat with staff or members to find great restaurants or local sites and highlights.
Insert activity INTO your trip: Incorporating activity like playing cricket, playing football and other sports INTO your vacation is a great way to keep your workout routine.
City tours–on foot, on a bike or inline skating. Check at your hotel about booking with a local tour companies or ask about spots for rentals, grab a map and go!
On the adventurous side– this is your opportunity to check things off your bucket list! Try zip lining, rock climbing or horseback riding.
