It could be an anniversary dinner, a gala ball event, a wedding dinner to attend, or perhaps it’s your own wedding day – here are some tips and must-dos on primping and making yourself look your best for that special occasion!
Pre-event health is not all about weight loss and psuedo-medical spa treatments. More importantly, you need-to-focus on staying healthy with smart choices and good habits. FOCUS POINTS ARE BODY, MIND AND SOUL before the BIG DAY.
Eat Healthy: An impending wedding/event is sure to mean lots of celebratory eating and food on the go. Don’t let nutrition fly out the window during this important time. Balance your meals with smaller portions of carbs with good amount of proteins (dals, chicken or fish) with keeping vegetable as fillers which will add up to your blush. There is more to pre-wedding health than losing weight. You can even add 1-2 tbsp of protein supplements as you tend to miss to balance your meals with your hectic shopping schedules.
Drink Water: This one’s a no-brainer. By staying hydrated, you’ll not only help your overall health, but support a more beautiful complexion and even weight loss.
Pure ghee: The old traditional way of glowing skin which we forget in the modern world. It helps the mucus lining of the intestines thereby reducing the chances of bloating. Especially the one that comes with late night eating and sleepless nights. The essential fatty acids in ghee lead to good assimilation of fat soluble vitamins, more specifically Vitamin E and add that touch of glow to your face. Increases flavor of food and therefore satiety, helps auto-reduce the portion size of every meal and the calories consumed. You can have 2 tsp of ghee every day, preferably with meals.
Take a walk:- This low-impact exercise is great for many reasons. It not only helps you clear your mind and relieve stress, but also burns more calories than you’d think. On average you can expect to burn around 70 calories per mile, an amount that will at least work off a few yummy tasting bites.
Take a bite of a chocolate: Dark chocolate is good for blood pressure, zapping of free radicals, and a host of other benefits. But don’t forget that chocolate also stimulates production of feel-good serotonin, a hormone that can help with stress and ease your moods. Being happy is the key for glowing and radiating skin.
Try to kick your caffeine habit: although caffeine may give you a quick kick, in the long run it will suck your much-needed energy. It’s bad for your complexion, too. Get energy from drinking lots of water and eating healthy fruits and vegetables.
Take your vitamins: I always advise brides to start a multivitamin pill and a vitamin C supplement. These work as a support system when the bride has to deal with high levels of stress and multiple things. Also include a daily capsule of primrose oil for glowing skin and a CoQ10 supplement to boost energy levels. Although vitamins are best when absorbed through diet, you’ll need all the help you can get as your body is attacked by stress, diet changes, and beauty routines
Beauty Sleep: Give yourself the energy you need to juggle it all by sticking to a regular sleep schedule. Whether its 6 hours or 10, make sure you’re getting what’s right for you to stay on top of your game.
Use avocado oil on the body as massage oil daily at night to make the skin softer and smoother. Avocado oil also heals minor cuts and burns. You can also massage your cuticles with that.
Rich in an antioxidant called lycopene so do eat them before the day, that helps you add that extra glow for the day.
Green Tea.Loaded with good-for-your-skin antioxidants, it helps you from bloating too.
Don’t starve yourself or try to lose weight 2 weeks prior to your big day. If you’re trying to lose weight, make sure you do it in a healthy, gradual way. It’s just not worth it to starve yourself, and any weight lost this way will catch up with you in the long run.
Be a responsible drinker: Parties/ events tends to bring on lots of celebrations, and with these celebrations, plenty of opportunities to go overboard. Avoid the temptation and be a responsible drinker.
I hope I helped you with a few tips on how to prepare for your special event!! And remember the key is Be Happy be Healthy always.
